There are many ways to make a generous investment in the lives of families in Northwest Alabama to help Safeplace, Inc. change people’s lives, give hope to children, and make our community a place where family violence exists no more.

GIVING OPPORTUNTIES INCLUDE
HONOR OR MEMORIAL GIFT: A special way to remember family, friends, employers, business associates, customers or co-workers is to send a gift in their honor: This gift will truly make a difference in the lives of victims for years to come. The Safeplace Foundation, Inc. will notify the honoree with a special card and send a receipt of the gift to you.

CASH: A gift of cash is an easy way to help the Safeplace Foundation, Inc. secure a charitable deduction. Your donation may help to reduce your income tax and help the Safeplace Foundation, Inc. continue its promise to the victims and families across our service area.

STOCK: Gifts of appreciated stock offer a better tax advantage than gifts of cash. Gifts of appreciated securities held for over 12 months will provide both a charitable income tax deduction and avoidance of capital gains tax on the growth that would otherwise be due if sold

BONDS: You may give appreciated bonds held longer than one year and claim a deduction for their full value. Donors may use highly appreciated, low yielding bonds to fund a gift that provides income. Depending on age and other factors, the bonds might be used to fund a life income arrangement that could easily provide 20-40% more cash flow and a significant current income tax deduction.(Note: Different rules apply to U.S. Savings Bonds.)

LIFE INCOME GIFT: As you consider your year-end gifts, give a gift that can produce income. You may be in a situation in which you would like to make a sizeable gift to the Safeplace Foundation, Inc., but are concerned about your income stream. A charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust can provide you with an increased income, a charitable deduction, and avoidance of capital gains if the gift is in the form of appreciated stock.

REAL ESTATE: A gift of real estate provides a three-fold advantage of allowing the donor to: experience the joy of giving, receive substantial tax benefits, and offer a major financial gift to the Safeplace Foundation, Inc. The Safeplace Foundation could receive an office building, a primary residence, or undeveloped land. A person giving their vacation home or primary residence may reserve the right to occupy the home for the remainder of his/her life.

LIFE INSURANCE: Gifts of life insurance provide a year-end charitable deduction. By naming the Safeplace Foundation as the owner and beneficiary you will be entitled to a tax deduction limited to the lower value of the policy or your cost basis in the contract. In addition, if you continue to pay premiums on the policy that we own, you can deduct the payments.

MATCHING GIFTS: Does your employer match your charitable gifts? If so, each gift you make is effectively doubled. Please check with your employer about this possibility.

TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY: By arranging to give assets such as cars, boats, artwork or jewelry during your lifetime you may receive a significant income tax savings and enjoy the satisfaction of giving that might not be achieved through an estate gift.

**The Safeplace Foundation, Inc. does not give tax advice-please consult your accountant or tax attorney for the best option that fits your needs**

Aside from your continuing support to the Safeplace Foundation, Inc. by taking advantage of any of these opportunities, you and your estate could also receive advantages under U.S. tax laws. All gifts to the Safeplace Foundation, Inc. are tax deductible.
