Crisis Line Volunteers help answer the crisis line. Extensive training is provided. Childcare Volunteers provide childcare for the little ones while the older children participate in groups that help them to understand the violence in their home and break the cycle of abuse. These groups meet in the evening. Volunteers also provide childcare during the day, allowing mothers to accomplish the steps necessary to obtain their independence. Prevention/Education Volunteers present prevention programs in the schools. Topics include physical, sexual and emotional abuse, bullying, assertiveness training, dating violence and healthy relationships. Training and curriculum provided. Some programs presented with the use of puppets. Tutoring Volunteers help children in the residential program with their homework and classes that may be challenging. Maintenance and Repair Volunteers provide facility maintenance which includes yard maintenance, painting and minor repairs. Office Assistance Volunteers help with newsletter mail outs, filing, shredding and much more. Transportation Volunteers provide transportation to help residents get to appointments and children to school. Collection, Pick-up and Delivery Volunteers help by collecting, picking-up and delivering donated items. Special Events Volunteers help organize and plan special fundraising events like Walk-A-Mile for A Child held in April (Child Abuse Prevention Month). You can help provide vital services for victims of domestic violence and their children.
