• Change your phone number. • Save and document all contacts, messages, injuries or other incidents involving the batterer. • Change your regular travel habits. • Shop and bank in a different place. • Cancel any bank accounts or credit cards you shared; open new accounts at a different bank. • Keep your court order and emergency numbers with you at all times. • Keep a cell phone & program it to 911 (or other emergency number). • Make sure the people who care for your children are very clear about who does and does not have permission to pick up your children. • Plan how to get away if confronted by an abusive partner. • If you have to meet your partner, do it in a public place.
